Canadian Electricity Association Portraits

Back in 2015 I was commissioned to photograph the CEO of the Canadian Electricity Association, Sergio Marchi, for Montecristo Magazine. At the time, CEA was interested in purchasing a couple of those photos for their website but it was still in the works so they said they'd follow up when they're closer to the finish line. Time passed and I forgot all about it.

Flash forward to this February, and I get an email from CEA asking about shooting corporate headshots of their leadership team for their new website. I knew their company sounded familiar, and after realizing who they were I remembered that I still have a couple old portraits they had been interested in (which we ended up working into this headshot job)!

As it turns out, that connection wasn't even how they got my name (since the woman I had been in contact with at the time no longer worked there). Around the time I was working on the details of this shoot, I met with local design firm Baytek. It came up in conversation that they were the ones who were designing CEA's new website, and already being familiar with my work online they were kind enough to recommend me for the job! Ottawa is really such a small town, but it still amazes me how many people are connected in different ways like this.

For this shoot, CEA wanted the images to be professional, traditional, yet still with a modern and engaging flavour. We decided to shoot waist up instead of head and shoulders, and to play around with posing a little bit, getting both classic business looks as well as some looser more approachable shots. Mixing these up for the final site was a nice blend of images that suits the brand well.

Check out a few of the images below, and be sure to take a look at their new website here.

Shoutouts to Baytek for the recommendation, Holleh Rahmati for hiring me for this project, Josh Hotz on assisting duty, and Kyleigh Telford for cleanup retouching!
