Shopify COO Harley Finkelstein for Les Echos
Back in November I had the pleasure of photographing the Chief Operating Officer of Shopify, Harley Finkelstein for Les Echos.
We had some time to tour the offices and take a few shots for the secondary art in the magazine, and also to scout for portrait locations.
We settled on the dining area, as it had a nice wide overview background, as well as interesting background textures for a simpler portrait.
Check out the portraits, tear sheets, and BTS below.
BTS INFO:
We used a single Profoto B1X head with a Deep White Umbrella Medium with diffusion for the main light. We gelled the light with a 1/2 CTO to match the tungsten light of the room, as well as provide the blue shadows in the close up portraits. By taking a white balance reading from the gelled light, all neutral light in the scene will go much cooler. The strobe was triggered and controlled by Air Sync and Air USB.
I shot on a Nikon D850 camera with a Sigma Art 35mm 1.4 lens on the wide shot and a Sigma Art 85mm 1.4 lens on the closer portraits. I was tethered to CaptureOne Pro via TetherTools to my Apple MacBook Pro in an SKB case.
Assisting and BTS images by Kamara Morozuk.
